FPA of Greater Phoenix General Circle

Who is a part of the General Circle?

All committee chairs, and any key committee members or prospective committee chairs.

What does the General Circle do?  What is the purpose of the General Circle?

The general circle collectively is the center of action for the chapter, and is collectively responsible for implementing work plans that support the Vision, Mission and strategic plan of the chapter.

The Executive Director with the support of the General Circle bears responsibility for achieving the goals of the chapter.

Committee chairs report to the Executive Director.  Effective Executive Directors apply servant leadership principles to recruit and retain passionate volunteers, and yet also recognize that volunteers only help the chapter to meet its Vision and Mission if they are willing to work as part of an effective team.

Committee chairs and volunteers agree to accept work plans and activities that the chapter resources and staff can support, at the discretion of the Executive Director.

All chapter policies, including the Conflict of Interest policy, apply to committee leadership and members.

How often does the General Circle meet?

At present, every other month.  In the future, the General Circle may meet 2 out of every 3 months.

What should transpire at General Circle meetings?

1)    Assessment toward chapter work plans and chapter goals - the Dashboard.

2)     Committee chair support for each other via direct communications and updates - the committee chair survey monkey report.

3)     Identification of leverage opportunities and/or potential collisions across all committees.

4)     Workplan and Priority adjustments

What is an Opening Round?

Check in to the meeting.   Understand/Review Agenda.  Adjust Agenda. Agree to Agenda.  Identify and disclose anything that is pertinent to your ability to positively participate.  Conflicts of Interest awareness.

What is a Closing Round?

Grade the meeting.  Did it start/end on time? Was the agenda honored?  Was the objective met?  How did the facilitator perform?  How did meeting participants perform?

What are Action Items?

Specific, short, definable tasks agreed upon during the meeting, with a set responsible party and timeframe for completion.

Please register your attendance or regret.  If a chair is unable to attend, sending an alternate key committee member is a great idea and is encouraged.
