FPA of Greater Phoenix General Circle

Who is a part of the General Circle?

All team chairs, and any key team members or prospective team chairs.

What does the General Circle do?  What is the purpose of the General Circle?

The general circle collectively is the center of action for the chapter, and is collectively responsible for implementing work plans that support the Vision, Mission and strategic plan of the chapter.

The Executive Director with the support of the General Circle bears responsibility for achieving the goals of the chapter.

Team chairs report to the Executive Director.  Effective Executive Directors apply servant leadership principles to recruit and retain passionate volunteers, and yet also recognize that volunteers only help the chapter to meet its Vision and Mission if they are willing to work as part of an effective team.

Team chairs and volunteers agree to accept work plans and activities that the chapter resources and staff can support, at the discretion of the Executive Director.

All chapter policies, including the Conflict of Interest policy, apply to team leadership and members.

How often does the General Circle meet?

At present, every other month.  In the future, the General Circle may meet 2 out of every 3 months.

Can Team leaders call in to the General Circle?

The amount of information and interaction that takes place at a General Circle is substantial and significant - enough so that your physical presence at the discussion table makes a tremendous difference in the value of the meeting to your team and every other team.

Only if there is no way to be physically present should you consider calling in to the meeting.

What should transpire at General Circle meetings?

1)    Assessment toward chapter work plans and chapter goals - the Dashboard.

2)     Team chair support for each other via direct communications and updates - the team leader survey monkey report support this effort.

3)     Identification of leverage opportunities and/or potential collisions across all teams.

4)     Workplan and Priority adjustments

What is an Opening Round?

Check in to the meeting.   Understand/Review Agenda.  Adjust Agenda. Agree to Agenda.  Identify and disclose anything that is pertinent to your ability to positively participate.  Conflicts of Interest awareness.

What is a Closing Round?

Grade the meeting.  Did it start/end on time? Was the agenda honored?  Was the objective met?  How did the facilitator perform?  How did meeting participants perform?

What are Action Items?

Specific, short, definable tasks agreed upon during the meeting, with a set responsible party and timeframe for completion.

Please register your attendance or regret.  If a team leader is unable to attend, sending an alternate key team member is a great idea and is encouraged.
