2014 FPA of Greater Phoenix Chapter Accomplishments

Due to the hard work of our dedicated board members and as a result of feedback from our membership base, we have made exciting strides in several key areas for our chapter. As we approach the half-way point of the year, I thought I would take the opportunity to share several of our accomplishments.


Under the leadership of our Technology Director, Brian Frederick, we identified several areas of improvement, which, I am happy to report, we are well on the way to remedying. First, we redesigned our newsletter format and transitioned to “paperless” meetings by sending presentations to registered attendees electronically in advance of our chapter meetings. Second, we have implemented a “preview” screen that runs prior to the start of our monthly chapter meetings. On these screens we will highlight our chapter partners, upcoming calendar items, chapter business, member recognition and other timely information. Third, and perhaps most exciting, we are well on our way to launching a redesigned chapter website. This new website is custom designed for our chapter, is easier to navigate, and will include exciting new features, including a local job board! I am so proud of the work Brian and the rest of the board have put into enhancing our chapter’s technology and hope you find it valuable.


This year, we instituted an enhanced benefits package for our chapter partners. This new benefit package was the result of many hours of work and consultation with our valued chapter partners. They have received the new package enthusiastically and we hope to continue to provide them with value for their contributions to our chapter. Thanks go to Chris Hess and Allan Small for their hard work on this initiative.

Public Relations

We are very lucky in our chapter to have a true professional as our Director of Public Relations. Suzanne Muusers has done so much to raise the public profile of our chapter and I am deeply grateful for her contribution. In addition to spearheading our social media strategy, Suzanne is working on designing a “Money Makeover” series with local media outlets that would showcase the value of the financial planning process in helping consumers make smart financial decisions. We are excited about this project and will update you as it continues to develop!

I don’t have room to highlight all of the meaningful work that has been done this year, but hopefully this will give you an idea of the amazing work that is being done by our volunteer Board. These individuals are passionate about their service and I am grateful to be associated with them. I have a favorite quote which hangs on my office wall, reminding me where my focus should be. It reads as follows:

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The work we do in our chapter ultimately helps consumers make smart financial decisions; decisions which affect their quality of life and the lives of those around them. The work we do is profoundly important and I salute those who are “in the arena.” Please take the opportunity to thank these individuals for their efforts.
