Advocacy Day and Events

Timing Varies Annually

Advocacy Day annually takes place at the Capitol, generally in January or February while the legislature is in Session.

No CFP® credit, but lots of learning.

Price is free for participating CFP® s.

Registrations opens roughly 8 weeks of ahead of the event.

Training takes place via conference call roughly 4 weeks ahead of the event.

CFP® members reach out to their legislators 4 weeks ahead of the event to request face to face appointments.

In May or June annually, FPA nationally arranges an Advocacy Day in Washington DC with our Federal legislators.

Sporadically during the year, our Advocacy working team may arrange for meetings with other local legislators or regulators, and host Advocacy Workshops to help our members learn how to impact legislative agendas.

Financial Planning Days

In addition to a continual series of Public Awareness offerings throughout the year, our Pro Bono working team hosts Financial Planning Day's events (potentially in locations across the state) during October.

In the Phoenix Metro market, the 3rd or 4th Saturday in October is set aside for a Pro Bono event.

CFP®s willing to volunteer to provide Pro Bono planning are requested to identify and register roughly 8-12 weeks ahead of the event, and attend Boot Camp training call and event logistics calls 4 weeks ahead of the event.

Our chapter holds a public service event annually, generally in the 4th quarter, to connect our planning community to those who need financial literacy skills, via an allied nonprofit organization.

Past service events have included making Pizza's and serving meals at St. Vincent de Paul.

Celebrations & Collaborations

April, July/August, December, & ad hoc

During the hot summer months, our chapter takes advantage of purposeful relationships with our FPA chapters in California - inviting our members to attend their chapter gatherings while they may be vacationing or working by the ocean.

December programming plans include the last Ethics option of the year, and a chapter celebration early in the month.

Ad Hoc social networking happy hours are the latest addition to our community line up - simple announcements posted about unorganized gatherings at various local restaurants, brew pubs, or wine bars - drop in if you would like to mingle with fellow planners on an occasional Friday Afternoon happy hour.

Our Events Calendars include offerings by our Partners - great free CE options for your consideration - and Regional or National FPA happenings.

Finally, our Professional Relations working team continues to add and nuture purposeful organization to organization relationships.  These relationships results in professional development opportunities in specialty areas like Divorce, Estate, or Charitable Planning, Investment centric learning, or skills sets like Financial Therapy and Behavior Coaching.

The essential hub of our financial planning community.

We connect CFP(R) and associated professionals to the resources they need and the people who need them.
